| Jacqueline Thompson is
following in the footsteps of the American singers of the “Golden Age.”
A versatile performer, she has succeeded in a broad range of styles
including opera, operetta, concert, and musical theater. She was a
winner of the Emerging Artists Business Committee for the Arts in New
York City. Ms. Thompson begins the Fall season with a gala concert for
Boheme Opera of New Jersey. She made her Treasure Coast Opera debut as Musetta in La Boheme and returned for Adina in L’Elisir d’ Amore. Jackie performed a series of composers concerts at both Queens College and Grace Church in Brooklyn singing the music of Martin Halpern and Frank Retzel and performed in the opening gala for Opera at Florham in New Jersey and sang a solo concert for the Rochester Choral Society. She performed Sam Barber’s Knoxville with Hunter Symphony in New York and returned to the Encores Series for performances of Irving Berlin’s Face the Music. She is also on the cast album for DRG. She won second place in the Little Italy Vocal Competition in New York City. In recent seasons she sang the title role of Handel’s Athalia with the Transfiguration Ensemble. Ms. Thompson sang Musetta in La Boheme at Metro Lyric Opera under the baton of Anton Coppola and Hilda in Martin Halpern’s The Scaffolding at the Theatre for the New City. Other recent credits include an appearance as the soprano soloist with the Lumina String Quartet’s performance Mary-Carol Warwick’s Quintessence, and performed Fruhling Stimmer and Russlan and Lydmilla with the Columbus Symphony. Jackie was featured in Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s “Yultide Celebration” concerts, and sang Valencienne in The Merry Widow with the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. She has sung Serpina in La Serva Padrona with Palm Beach Opera, Second Lady in The Magic Flute with Kentucky Opera, Laurey in Oklahoma! with the Janeic Opera Company, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni with the Lansing Opera Company. As an oratorio soloist she has sung Kodaly’s Te Deum, Poulenc’s Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah. She has also appeared as a soprano soloist in pops concerts with Palm Beach Opera, Ocean City Pops Orchestra, Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra and Kentucky Center for the Arts. Ms. Thompson received a Masters in Music from Indiana University and a Bachelors of Music from University of Louisville. 9/18/08 |
