A native of Oregon, Alisa Thomason
was a 2007 finalist in the Rocky Mountain Region of the Metropolitan
Opera National Council Auditions. Last summer she spent a month in
Italy singing the title role in Giacomo Puccini’s Suor Angelica with La
Musica Lirica. Other summertime appearances included soprano soloist in
Haydn’s Creation and John Rutter’s Mass of the Children under the baton
of Brady Allred and Giulia in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Gondoliers with
Utah Opera. Ms. Thomason’s ventures into new music include work with
Canyonlands New Music Ensemble in presenting Yehudi Wyner’s song
cycle On This Most Voluptuous Night in conjunction with the Pulitzer
Prize-winning composer’s visit to the University of Utah in October
2006, as well as premiers of new works by Sam Richards and Marie
Grudzien. The summer of 2006 she participated in the Berkshire Opera
Company Resident Artist Program, where she played Gretel in Hänsel
& Gretel. In May of 2006, she received her M.M. in Vocal
Performance from the University of Utah, where she studied with Carol
Ann Allred and Robert Breault. Other performance highlights include
premiering a new work by Moldovan composer Igor Iachimciuc; Donna Anna
in Don Giovanni at the University of Utah; Soloist, Valeri Kikta’s La
Luce delle Tacite Stelle with the Utah Harp Ensemble; Soloist, Brian
Crosby’s Oratorio on the Life of Christ; Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro
with Paradigm Chamber Orchestra; Soloist in the Mozart Requiem at the
University of Utah; Gabriella in La Rondine with Utah Opera; Musetta in
La Bohème with Sandy City Symphony; Poppea in L’incoronazione di
Poppea at La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, Italy; Rose in Street Scene
and soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at the University of Utah.
Fluent in Italian, Alisa enjoys tennis, running, and the outdoors.
