| Mezzo-soprano Kristin Rothfuss
thrills audiences with her rich, mellifluous voice, her stunning beauty
and charismatic personality. She began this season as Romeo in a
new production of I Capuleti e I Montecchi at the Thornton Theater in
Los Angeles. In February she performs the role of Edith Berringer in
"The Man in the Black Suit", a new opera by Eve Beglarian and Grethe
Holby, based on the award-winning story by Stephen King, to take place
at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida. Following that she will
perform Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and the Requiem by Durufle in the Pro
Arte Chorale’s Series in New Jersey. This past Season she made her Sacramento Opera debut singing Dorabella in a new production of Così Fan Tutte. She also returned to the Westfield Symphony Orchestra for performances of the Messiah. She then made her debut with Virginia Opera as Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana. She recently won second place in the Irene Dalis Vocal Competition in San Jose, CA. She returned to Carnegie Hall with Mid America Productions and with the South Coast Symphony Orchestra in a gala concert. She also sang the world premier of McGurty’s The New Colossus with the Westfield Symphony Orchestra. She sang Zulma in L’Italiana in Algeri with Opera Pacific, Ino in Semele with Long Beach Opera and Mercedes in Carmen with the Westfield Symphony Orchestra. Kristin sang Oreste opposite Susan Graham as La Belle Helene and sang Kate in Pirates of Penzance on the main stage with Santa Fe Opera.. With Opera San Jose she sang Olga in Eugene Onegin and Maddalena in Rigoletto. She also performed Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro at Opera Idaho and debuted with the Los Angeles Opera as the Page in Lohengrin. Equally at home with contemporary music, Ms. Rothfuss created leading roles in world premieres of two exciting operas: Madame Matilde in Nathan Wang's On Gold Mountain with the Los Angeles Opera and Patsy Jefferson in Glenn Paxton's Monticello with Grand Performances of Los Angeles. At Thornton Opera, she sang Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible and the Mezzo in Argento’s Postcard from Morrocco. Her concert work includes Mozart's Mass in C minor with the Bucks County Choral Society in Philadelphia, Vivaldi’s Gloria with the New England Symphony and Bach's St. John Passion with the Ventura Master Chorale. 01/23/08 |
