American conductor Nicholas G. M. Ross has been praised for his imaginative programming and engaging leadership.  Creative programming and non-traditional approaches to performance are the trademarks of Ross’ career earning acclaim from audiences of all ages.

Demonstrating his affinity for the operatic stage, Ross served as an Associate Conductor with the New York City Opera Company for the 2007-2008 season, and served as an Assistant Conductor with the Glimmerglass Opera Company for three seasons from 2005-2007. In 2007, Ross also served as Music Director for a fiftieth anniversary production of Bernstein’s West Side Story with John Jay and Ohio Wesleyan Colleges.

Currently, Ross is the Director of Orchestras at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Past symphonic conducting posts include Music Director and Conductor of the Hunter Symphony in New York City, Conducting Assistant with the Phoenix Symphony, Cover Conductor for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Onondaga Civic Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Conductor of the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra.

This coming spring, Ross will conduct Manon Lescaut with Shreveport Opera. This past fall, Ross performed as guest conductor with the Valdosta Symphony in Georgia. Additional guest conducting appearances include performances with the Art of Orchestra Festival in New York City, the Harbin Symphony Orchestra in Harbin, China, the Arizona State University Lyric Opera Theater, the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra in Canandaigua, New York, the Society of Composers Festival in Tempe, Arizona, and the Syracuse University Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his conducting career, Ross maintains an active performance schedule as a violinist performing chamber, opera and symphonic repertoire throughout the United States.
