Charles Reid has gained an international reputation as one of the world’s leading lyric tenors.  He has sung on many of the most famous international stages, including nine seasons with New York’s Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, and the festivals of Bayreuth, Salzburg, Spoleto USA, and Glimmerglass.

Mr. Reid’s 2009/2010 season begins with his third season with the Bayreuther Festspiele, performing in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Charles makes his debut with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra singing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. On the operatic stage, his roles include Tamino, Don Ottavio, Macduff, Rodolfo, Cassio, Narraboth, and Froh.  Mr. Reid will be singing Guido Bardi in a concert version of Zemlinksy’s Eine florentinische Tragödie with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra in May, under the baton of Maestro Debilly. In 2011, he will return to the Metropolitan Opera covering Pylade in Iphigénie en Tauride.

Recent season triumphs in Europe and the Americas include the roles Alfredo, Nemorino, Duca di Mantua, Belmonte, Ferrando, Tito, and Conte Almaviva. Among his many credits, Charles Reid has earned critical acclaim internationally on oprea stages spanning cities from Barcelona, Madrid, Mexico City, Düsseldorf, Mannheim, Wiesbaden, Giessen, and Winterthur. In the U.S., additional credits include Connecticut Opera, L’Opera Francais de New York, Sarasota Opera, Opera Carolina, and Central City Opera.

Mr. Reid’s recent recordings include Haydn’s The Seasons with Amor Artis Baroque Orchestra, and a DVD release of Katherina Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg with the Bayreuther Festspiele.
