| Maestro Fernando Raucci has conducted professionally in the
USA for the past ten years, bringing a wealth of talent, European
training and culture to all his musical ensembles. He spent three
successful years as Assistant of American Symphony Orchestra at Lincoln
Center with Maestro Leon Botstein. He was previously Music Director of
Opera International, Princeton; Principal Guest Conductor, Greater
Trenton Symphony Orchestra; Permanent Conductor, Nicola Amati Chamber
Orchestra; Artistic Director, Armonie Notturne, Isernia, Italy; He has
conducted orchestras in Poland, Russia, Hungary, Italy, Romania, and
Bulgaria. In the summer of 2005, Raucci was invited to participate at
the renowned Spoleto Summer Festival in Italy. Maestro Raucci’s interests also extend to opera. Recently he opened the 2008 summer season at Opera New Jersey with Verdi’s La Traviata. He also served as Assistant to Maestro Maurizio Barbacini at Opera Company of Philadelphia for their production of Don Carlo. In addition to Maestro Raucci’s conducting work in his adopted USA , he is committed to educating others about his native Italy, particularly it’s music and cultural heritage. In 2003, he was awarded the prestigious Accademico, an annual international prize from the European Academy for Economical Cultural Relations (AEREC) for advancing cultural exchanges between nations. In 2004, he was inducted into the Italian–American National Hall of Fame in Atlantic City, NJ. In 2002, then New Jersey Governor James McGreevey commended Raucci for making the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra one of the best cultural organizations in New Jersey. Maestro Raucci’s achievements have earned high praise from some of today’s leading conductors. In the words of Maestro Zubin Metha, "Fernando Raucci is a promising young conductor, intelligent, serious with innate musicality. He is on his way to a successful career.” In the words of Maestro Piero Bellugi, “Raucci shows a remarkable musicality and an inborn conducting talent.” Maestro Raucci began his training at conservatories in Italy at 17, culminating in a degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Conservatorio B. Marcello of Venice. He completed a Master’s degree at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, receiving the Recognition of Excellence Award in Orchestral Conducting. Maestro Raucci is currently the Artistic Director of the Mario Lanza Festival in Filagnano, Italy; the Music Director of the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra and an instructor of Italian at Rutgers University. 7/10/10 |
