| Maestro Paul Nadler has
distinguished himself as one of the world’s most exciting and respected
symphonic and operatic conductors. Since his Metropolitan
Opera debut in 1989, he has led over 50 performances there, conducting
stars such as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Karita Mattila, Bryn
Terfel, Anna Netrebko, Renée Fleming, Ramon Vargas and Ben
Hepner. In concert he has collaborated with renowned soloists
such as Garrick Ohlsson, Emmanuel Ax, Misha Dichter, Elmar
Olivera, and Glenn Dicterow. Maestro Nadler is Music Director
Emeritus of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and
Principal Guest Conductor of the Filarmonica de Stat Iasi
(Romania). In the 2008-9 season Maestro Nadler continues his musical activities at the Metropolitan Opera. He returns to Opera de Montréal for the annual opera gala in December and then returns to conduct performances of Cosi fan tutte in the Spring. This fall he will spend the month of November in Romania conducting performances with the Isai and Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestras. In the past two seasons, Maestro Nadler led an all star cast (Renee Fleming, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and Ramon Vargas) at the Met in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin . He conducted Romeo and Juliet at the MET with Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon in the title roles. He also conducted performances of Salome for the inaugural production with the newly formed Opera Cleveland, and toured Romania conducting the orchestras of Iasi, Craiova, and Bucharest, as well as debuting at the National Opera of Bucharest in Carmen and Don Giovanni. He made his debut was guest conductor with the opera gala at Opera de Montréal and conducted concerts with the Israeli Chamber Orchestra. Other highlights of recent seasons include appearances with the Orquestra de Navarra (Spain), the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Verbier Festival (Switzerland), Augsburg Symphony, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, Romanian National Radio Orchestra, and the Brasov and Timisiora Orchestras (Romania). Symphonic credits also include performances with the Grant Park (Chicago) Music Festival, New World Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Victoria Symphony, Jerusalem Symphony, and Orchestra Carlos Chaves (Mexico), among others. Maestro Nadler’s diverse repertoire at the Metropolitan Opera include Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, Aida, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Tannhäuser, Don Carlo, Andrea Chenier, La Traviata, Carmen, Fidelio, Stravinski’s triple bill: Le Sacre du Printemps / Le Rossignol / Oedipus Rex, and Eugene Onegin. He also was chosen to lead performances of the Met’s National Council Competition. Operatic credits include performances with Indianapolis Opera, Utah Opera, Calgary Opera, Florentine Opera, Minnesota Opera, Syracuse Opera, and Orlando Opera. Internationally, Paul has conducted the Hong Kong Opera, as well as engagements in Plovdiv, Varna, and Russe (Bulgaria). In December 2002, Maestro Nadler conducted at the Kennedy Center Awards ceremony in honor of his colleague James Levine. Co-director/founder of the International Vocal Arts Institute, Maestro Nadler returns each summer to the prestigious professional workshop. Early in his career he was named winner of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra Conductor Competition. In 1974 Maestro Nadler founded the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, where he remained as Music Director and Conductor through 1983. 09/3/08 |
