Eun Hee Kim, a native of South Korea, is quickly gaining a reputation
as an up-and-coming soprano. Described as “She was exquisite… her
silvery soprano and expressive intensity lent heartbreaking pathos to
the aria” (The Plain Dealer), Ms Kim made her professional operatic
debut with Cleveland Opera as Li in their production of Turandot.
Beside Li her operatic roles include resent appearance as Pamina
in Die Zauberflöte with Eugene Opera, Antonia in Les Contes
d’Hoffman, Romilda in Serse with the Maryland Opera Studio, the leading
role of Suor Angelica at the Intermezzo Young Artist Program, Micaela
in Carmen, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, and Mimi in La Bohème
at the Manhattan School of Music. Next season she makes her debut with
the Westfield Symphony Orchestra and Maestro David Wroe as soloist in
the Verdi Requiem. She has also appeared in many Art Song recitals and concerts with orchestras such as Korean National Orchestra, New York Sinfonietta, Maryland Repertoire Symphony Orchestra, the Ukraine National Orchestra and Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. She especially, won public recognition as a concert artist through the Cleveland Art Song Festival. Ms. Kim made her New York debut with the New York Sinfonietta. Ms. Kim is the third place winner of the 2006 Classical Singer’s AudComps. She also won the First Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the 2006 Annapolis Opera Annual Vocal Competition, the 2005 Belle Voci National Competition (1st prize), the 2004 Marie E. Crump Vocal Arts Competition (1st prize), and the Washington District competition in the 2002-2003 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at the Ewha Womans University in Korea, Master’s degree and Professional Studies at the Manhattan school of Music and her doctoral degree in Music at the University of Maryland. 06/20/08 |
