| A native of San Francisco, Vincent
Chambers is an accomplished opera singer, actor and musician. Recently
Mr. Chambers sang his first Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) in his debut
with the Pacific Repertory Company. He also sang Rodolfo with
both the Mendocino Music Festival and the Santa Rosa Symphony
Orchestra. He began 2010 with performances as Danilo in The Merry Widow
with Townsend Opera in California. In March he performs the Mozart
requiem with CSU in Chico. Last season marked Mr. Chambers’ debut with several companies: With Townsend Opera as Canio in Pagliacci, and the West Bay Opera, singing Canio as well as Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana. He performed Rodolfo in La Boheme with San Francisco Lyric Opera, and returned to West Bay Opera to perform Eric in Flying Dutchman in May. He also performed recently at the Bach Festival at CSU/Chico. Other performances include Rodrigo in Otello with The Westfield Symphony (NJ), and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus with Nevada Opera Theater. He also created roles in several new operas: Ragnar Brovik in The Scaffolding by Martin Halpern at the Theater for the New City, as well as Sheldon in Dinner and Delusion by Michael Sahl at Symphony Space in NYC, and again at NYU's Skirball Center for NY City Opera's VOX New Opera series. Operatic credits in the New York area include Rodolfo in La Boheme, the title role in Tales of Hoffman, Nemorino in L'Elisir d'Amore, Alfredo in La Traviata, and The Duke in Rigoletto with such companies as DiCapo Opera of New York, Amato Opera Theater, Rutger's University and The Opera Company of New Jersey. West Coast performances include Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte with South Bay Opera , and Ernesto in Don Pasquale with Valley Opera of Los Angeles.. Mr. Chambers began his music career playing the accordion and guitar as a child, eventually becoming a bassist and back-up vocalist with several SF Bay Area rock bands. He acquired valuable experience working in his father's piano tuning school by repairing, rebuilding and tuning pianos, as well as teaching students the craft for nearly 10 years. During this time he met many students at the school with varied musical backgrounds, broadening his own interests. With the encouragement of several teachers at SF City College, Mr. Chambers transferred to UCLA to pursue opera, eventually earning a music degree from Cal State Long Beach. Mr. Chambers' stage credits include the leading part in Harold Pinter's The Dumb Waiter with San Francisco Theater Company, and Ken in Eric Bogosian's Talk Radio at San Francisco State University. He also appeared in an independent film The Apology released by The Montage Films and I Will Avenge You, Iago, released in 2006. In addition, Mr. Chambers has given hundreds of concert recitals throughout the United States, including Broadway duets and solos, art songs, and other classics. 7/23/10 |
