Anna
Rebek is a Mexican and Hungarian-American opera and theater director living
and working in NYC. Anna received her BFA in acting from Yale University,
then attended Columbia’s MFA Directing program helmed by Anne Bogart. Upon
graduation, Anna was awarded the Opera Directing Fellowship at Juilliard
for two years, becoming an assistant faculty member there her second year.
Anna continues to teach acting and movement to singers and advanced Shakespeare
techniques to actors. Anna’s favorite credits include Mozart’s Le Nozze di
Figaro in the historic Estates Theater in Prague, Puccini’s La Boheme at
the Soo Opera Theater, an all-Latina and bilingual production of Tanya Saracho’s
Enfrascada at CCNY, Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 at Co-Cathedral in Brooklyn
dedicated to La Virgen de Guadalupe, and a double bill of Puccini’s Gianni
Schicchi and Michael Ching’s Buoso’s Ghost at the Kasser Theater for Montclair
State University. She is also the founder of Shakespeare Workshoppe, a 6
week class that culminates in a full performance of a Shakespeare masterwork.
