Soprano Lauren Frey is from Pittsburgh, PA.  Lauren was commended for her performance as Musetta in Opera Western Reserve's production of La Bohème.  She "brilliantly negotiated the intricacies of her bel canto role with sparkling ease."  In her famous "Musetta's Waltz" aria, Frey "depicted Musetta beautifully," while her ensemble vocals were "absolutely stunning"  (The Classical Cleveland).  Cleveland's A Musical Eye described her performance as "saucy."
 
Most recently, Lauren was named a Finalist with the Internationale Anton Rubinstein Vocal Competition in Düsseldorf, Germany. She was also a finalist with The American Prize, Women in Opera Division in 2021 and 2020.  Lauren was named a semi-finalist with the Annapolis Vocal Competition and a semi-finalist with the Brava! Opera Theater James M. Collier Competition in 2015.  She received 2nd Place in 2014 with The American Prize, Women in Opera Division and was a grant recipient from the prestigious Career Bridges Foundation.  Lauren won 3rd Place at the Metropolitan Opera National Council (MONC) Regional Auditions after winning 1st Place at the MONC District Auditions.  Lauren received an Honorable Mention Award from the Philadelphia Orchestra's Albert M. Greenfield Competition in 2013 and won first place at the MONC District Auditions in 2012. 

After several cancellations during the COVID season, Lauren joined St Petersburg Opera to cover Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte. In 2019, Lauren returned to Opera Steamboat for her role debut as Foreign Princess in Rusalka.  She made her debut with the company in 2018 as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni.  Earlier that year, Lauren made her role debut as Violetta in St Petersburg Opera's cover matinee performance of La Traviata.  Lauren returned to the role of La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro in 2017 after debuting the role in 2015 in New York City.  Earlier that year, she appeared in concert with Maestro Ricahrd Bado at the Texas Musical Festival in Houston, Texas, performing Semiramide (partial role.)  Lauren made her New York City Opera company debut as a member of the ensemble in Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas, and was invited back for NYCO’s double bill production of Aleko/Pagliacci (Rachmoninov/Leoncavallo.)  In 2016, Lauren made her role debut as Konstanze (cover matinee performance) in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with St. Petersburg Opera.  In 2013, Lauren sang Musetta in La Bohème with Opera Western Reserve and made her international debut as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in Weimar, Germany.
 
In 2023, Lauren looks forward to making her Prague National Opera debut. Other operatic credits include the title role in Handel's Alcina, Die Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Countess in Capriccio, Coaxer in Threepenny Opera, and Micaela in Carmen.

Lauren and her husband, tenor Chris Longo, live in Pittsburgh with their dog, Winston, and baby daughter, Sofia. Together, they own their music studio and recording business, Frey Longo Music Studio. Lauren is pursuing a Speech-Language Pathology degree.
